Cause January is the longest month. I swear, I feel like it’s January 87th.
Maybe October will be shorter. Blogtober has a nice ring to it.
What books do you want to read?
I suppose it’s cheating to say “All of them. All the books.”
And it would be not only cheating, but it would also be untrue. I have precisely zero interest in most non-fiction, with the exception of memoirs, which I prefer to consume in audio format, read by the author.
I also have very little interest in horror. And I don’t understand why anyone wants to read a book that is sad. I see folks in the Romance groups that I follow saying all the time “I need one without a happy ending. I need it to WRECK me!”
And this makes absolutely no sense.
I also don’t want to read most sci-fi, most fiction set prior to 1900, and most high fantasy can also see itself out.
But, the question wasn’t what books I avoid. The question was, in fact, the opposite of that.
So. I want to read romance, preferably m/m, with m/f sneaking in a fairly close second. Not a huge fan of the sapphic, but I have read a few that were good.
I want to read mysteries. I like mysteries that involve murder, and are solved by PIs, the best. Police procedural are fine, too, but frequently a little dry for me. I also will read thrillers, but typically they veer a little close to horror for my liking.
I love a good legal thriller, though.
I like Urban Fantasy, and Magical Realism. Things with Vampires and Shifters make me all tingly. Paranormal Romance and gaslamp fantasy, too.
Exceptions to the above:
- I don’t read a lot of SciFi but Andy Weir freaking owns me.
- I don’t read a ton of stuff set prior to the 20th century, but The Pillars of the Earth was brilliant and I will die on that hill.
- I don’t want to read anything where there is a dog because I will constantly worry about whether someone will hurt the dog. I religiously check doesthedogdie.com, and if the book has no entry there, I will read the last few pages before I start, just to make sure that Rover makes it out OK.
Yep. That’s a pretty good summary. Now, I must back to my current legal thriller. This defense doesn’t have a chance to get the killer off without me.
Love y’all.

I agree feels like 87th. I’m a couple of days behind now. 30 days have September. Will keep an eye out for October
